PORTUGUESE SWEETBREAD 
2 lb. flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
6 eggs
1 stick butter
2 c. sugar
2 pkg. yeast cakes

Mix eggs and sugar together, then flour and salt. Melt butter with milk. Dissolve yeast in a little warm water or milk. With clean hands, mix all together, using rolling and kneading action. Add melted mixture gradually. Knead the dough gently. Rub shortening over top. Cover with towel to keep warm to help rise more quickly. Keep in warm place.

When dough is risen, separate into baking pans (greased). Make a ball of dough in center of pan. Let rise again, then bake at 325 degrees for about 60 minutes or until golden brown.
