DATE & NUT PINWHEELS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients; blend well. Roll out 1/2 of dough to a 10 x 8 inch rectangle. Roll out other half of dough (same size). Spread with filling. Roll up like a jelly roll. Wrap each roll in waxed paper and chill for at least 2 hours. Cut into slices 1/4 inch thick and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

DATE FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, cut in pieces
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Cook dates, water and sugar over low heat for about 5 minutes. Stir in walnuts and cool. Spread on rolled out dough.
