LAVONE'S RAISED DOUGH BREAD
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 c. plain flour
1 1/2 c. soft shortening or butter
2 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs

Dissolve yeast in water and add sugar, salt and half of the flour. Beat well; add eggs and shortening. Then beat in the rest of the flour. Allow it to rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size (about 1 hour). Turn out on floured board and knead. Make rolls then allow it to rise again for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees until lightly brown. This can also be used as a base for cinnamon rolls.
