DEVIL DOGS 
Oven at 425 degrees. Bake 7 minutes.

1 c. sugar
1 egg
5 tbsp. shortening
5 tbsp. cocoa or 2 sqs. Choc. Bake
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening in electric mixer. Add egg and milk. Sift flour, soda and salt and add. Drop on greased cookie sheet 1 teaspoon at a time. Bake at 425 degrees for seven minutes.

CREAM FILLING:

1/2 cup milk, 2 tablespoons flour. Cook in double boiler until thick and smooth (or use frying pan on low flame) add pinch of salt - let cook.

In mixer put 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup shortening, and 1/4 cup butter. Beat at high speed until fluffy. Add cooled mixture and 1 teaspoon vanilla - beat again until fluffy. Spread between two Devil Dogs. Makes 24 complete Dogs.
