1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. broken pecans
1 c. fruitcake mix or mix (4 oz. each) : 1 c. green cherries 1 c. red cherries 2 c. chopped dates

Blend on low speed in a mixing bowl sugar, buttermilk and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir with wooden spoon or plastic spoon; mix well.

Stir in nut meat and fruit mix; stir well. Drop by teaspoonfuls, one- inch apart, to prevent sticking together. Bake at 300 degrees for 10- 15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
