TOLL HOUSE COOKIES 
1 c. butter or Crisco
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda in 1 tsp. hot water
2 1/2 c. flour (after sifting)
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

If you are on the East coast, use 2 1/2 cups of Velvet cake flour, sifted.

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven until the bottom of the cookie begins to brown. If you are watching your sugar intake, leave out the brown sugar as it is mainly used for flavor. Makes 6-7 dozen cookies.
