1 German chocolate cake mix
1 bag Kraft caramels
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. butter
1 1/4 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts; optional

Melt butter, milk, and caramels. Mix cake mix as on package. Pour half into a large cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Pour melted caramel mixture over top. Sprinkle with chips and nuts. Pour remaining cake mixture on top. Bake 15 minutes more. This can be made as a cake in a 9 x 13 pan increasing baking time 5 minutes each time.
