RED VELVET CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavoring
1 tbsp. vinegar

Cream Crisco and sugar, add eggs. Add coloring, cocoa, and vanilla. Mix well. Sift flour and salt. Add alternately with buttermilk. Beat well. Sprinkle soda over batter, then pour vinegar on soda. Fold in. DO NOT BEAT! Bake in 3 pans, 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool.

FROSTING:

3 tbsp. flour
1 c. Mazola corn oil butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
1 c. granulated sugar

Cook flour and milk over low heat until thick; cool. Cream sugar, butter, and vanilla until fluffy. Add flour and milk mixture. Beat until mixture is like whipped cream. Spread on cake.
