SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS
2 lbs. chopped meat
1 sm. onion, grated (or onion powder)
1/8 tsp. salt
Pinch of pepper
1 egg
1/4 c. cold water
3 tbsp. bread crumbs
1 (14 oz.) bottle chili sauce or catsup
1 (12 oz.) jar grape jam (less jam will make sauce less sweet)
Juice of 1 lemon

Combine meat, onion, salt, pepper, egg, water and breadcrumbs. Make small meatballs, place on wet baking tray and bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool and remove all fat residue, wash if necessary. Do not put meatballs in sauce until cool. (If you plan to freeze them, omit onion.) Mix lemon juice and chili. Combine chili sauce and grape jam. Boil briefly and add meatballs. Cook over low flame 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Do not cover. Alternate sauce: 1 can sauce Arturo and 1 can whole cranberry sauce.
