CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE 
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. sour milk
1/2 c. cocoa
1/3 c. hot water

Combine flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening, add gradually and beat after each addition. Add vanilla then eggs. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk. Mix cocoa and hot water to form a smooth paste. Beat batter. Put into three greased 9 inch layer pans or two if you like thick layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool and frost as desired. Yields three 9 inch layers.
