SALISBURY STEAK WITH MUSHROOM
SAUCE
 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. sage
1/4 c. cracker crumbs
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. finely chopped onion
1/4 tsp. pepper

Mix above ingredients, form into 4 patties. Fry in lightly greased pan, brown well on both sides. Remove from pan, add 2 tablespoons butter and saute 1 (4 oz.) can chopped mushrooms, drained (save liquid from mushrooms). Blend in 1 tablespoon flour. Add 1 1/4 cups water and mushroom juice and 1 or 2 bouillon cubes. Cook and stir until smooth and thick. Return patties to gravy and cook over low heat until heated through.
