JULIE'S CHOCOLATE FLIP STRIPS | |
DOUGH; 3/4 c. butter 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. brown sugar Cream butter, salt, and vanilla. Gradually add brown sugar, creaming well. Add flour gradually; blend well. If necessary, add a few drops milk. Chill while preparing chocolate filling. FILLING: 1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate chips 2/3 c. walnuts, finely chopped 1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/8 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. shortening Melt chips and shortening over hot water. Remove from heat. Reserve 1/4 cup for glaze. Add walnuts, condensed milk, vanilla and salt to remaining chocolate; blend well. Cool. Place sheet of aluminum foil on lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with flour. Place half of dough in center of foil. Roll 14x5 rectangle. Spread half of filling lengthwise on half of dough to within 1/2 inch of edge. Fold uncovered dough over filling using foil to lift. Fold back foil. Seal edges. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. Cool slightly. GLAZE: 1 tbsp. corn syrup 1 tsp. water 1/4 c. reserved chocolate Add corn syrup and water to reserved chocolate. Reheat over hot water. Spread over cookies. Cool. Cut crosswise into 3/4 inch strips. |
