AMARETTO BROWNIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. amaretto liqueur
1/2 tsp. salt
4 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Amaretto frosting

Combine shortening and chocolate in a heavy saucepan; place over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted. Add sugar, stirring until combined. Remove from heat and cool. Stir in eggs and amaretto. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture, stirring well. Pour batter into a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, cool. Frost with Amaretto Frosting. Sprinkle with sliced almonds and cut into squares.

AMARETTO FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter
1 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. half & half
2 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
Dash of salt
2 tbsp. amaretto

Combine butter and chocolate in a heavy saucepan; place over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted. Stir in half and half. Add powdered sugar, salt and amaretto, stirring until smooth. Yield: 2 1/2 dozen brownies.
