ENGLISH MUFFINS 
1/2 c. scalded milk
1/4 c. Crisco
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry
1/2 c. lukewarm water
3 c. sifted flour
Cornmeal

Combine milk, Crisco, salt and sugar. Add yeast, lukewarm water and flour. Mix to soft dough. Roll to 3/8 inch thick. Cut circles. Sprinkle with cornmeal. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake on ungreased griddle for 7 minutes on each side, about 350 degrees.
