BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt. thinly sliced cucumbers
6 med. onions, chopped
2 lg. bell peppers, chopped
1-3 garlic cloves
1/3 c. salt
5 c. sugar
1 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed or pickling spice
3 c. cider vinegar

Combine cucumbers, peppers, onions, garlic and salt; cover with ice cubes. Let stand 3-5 hours; drain.

Combine remaining ingredients and pour over cucumbers. Heat to boiling. Put in sterilized jars and seal.
