YANKEE HOME BAKED BEANS 
1 lb. pea beans
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
2 tsp. dry mustard
4 tbsp. maple syrup
3 tbsp. molasses
1 piece salt pork

Wash beans; soak overnight. Boil 20 minutes, if skin breaks, do not boil further. Add baking soda. Drain and run under cold water. Put beans in bean pot and cover with boiling water. Mix remaining ingredients, except salt pork, and pour over beans. Put salt pork on top. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 8 hours.
