COCONUT FUDGE MACAROONS 
3 egg whites
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. shredded coconut

Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Add sugar, beating constantly until stiff. Add salt and vanilla. Melt chocolate chips over very low heat. Cool slightly and fold into meringue. Blend in coconut and pecans into meringue. Blend in coconut and pecans. Drop by teaspoons onto baking sheet lined with brown paper. Bake for about 15 minutes in a slow oven, 325 degrees. Makes 3 dozen.
