1 c. shortening or butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sour cream
4 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time, continue to beat. Add sour cream and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Roll on floured canvas, fairly thick.

Cut with large round cutter. Place on cookie sheet, sprinkle with bit of sugar and place a quarter of a maraschino cherry in the center of the cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. These cookies should be large, soft and thick.
