HOT BUTTERED RUM FOR A CROWD | |
1 c. dark brown sugar 1 c. boiling water 3 qt. sweet apple cider 12 whole cloves 1 lg. stick cinnamon 1 qt. dark Jamaican rum Chunks of butter Dissolve brown sugar in water. Put this in a large urn or coffee kettle, should have no coffee smell. I've used a large saucepan. Add apple cider. In cloth bag, place cloves and cinnamon stick. Drop into apple juice and allow to steep about 1 hour. Try not to boil. When you can smell the hearty aroma of spices, remove them. Add Jamaican rum, bring just to boiling point and serve in pre-warmed mugs. Drop chunk of butter in each cup, serve and enjoy. |
