BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
CRUST:

1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour

FILLING:

8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. peeled apples, sliced
1/4 c. slivered almonds

CRUST: Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough into bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan.

FILLING: Combine softened cream cheese and sugar. Mix well. Add egg and vanilla. Pour over dough into pan.

TOPPING: Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400 degrees. Bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool before removing from pan.
