BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE | |
This recipe took 3rd place in the Missoula - "Tastes of the Town" cooking contest. 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1 c. flour 8 oz. cream cheese 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 4 c. peeled and sliced apples 1/4 c. sliced almonds Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough on the bottom and sides of a 9 inch springform pan. Combine softened cream cheese, and sugar; mix well. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Pour into pastry lined pan. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in sugar mixture. Spoon mixture over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400 degrees. Continue baking for 25 minutes or a little longer. Cool before removing rim of pan. |
