POPCORN BALLS 
3 1/2 qts. popped corn
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
Food coloring (red or green for Christmas, orange for Halloween, etc.)

In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, water and salt. Cook uncovered, stir occasionally until it comes to the hard ball stage, (hard ball is when mixture forms a hard ball when dropped into cold water.) Remove from heat and add vanilla and food coloring. Pour over corn, mixing as you pour. Shape into balls with buttered hands. Kids like to do this part! Wrap each ball in plastic wrap. Approximately 16 balls.
