AMISH LENTIL SOUP 
1 pkg. dry lentils, washed
5 c. (or more) water
2 bay leaves
2 (16 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes

Simmer this 1 hour or until lentils are soft. Watch so that it doesn't stick. Then add:

1 1/2 lb. sliced kielbasa

Saute in 2 tablespoons of butter for 10 minutes. Add the following:

8 slices chopped bacon
1 c. carrots, diced or sliced
1 c. celery, diced
1-2 onions, diced

Add everything together and simmer until flavors are blended. This soup freezes well. You may want to add water to make it the consistency you like best. Serves 6-8.
