BLACK CHERRY ALMOND MUFFINS 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. pitted, dark sweet cherries (drain if using canned cherries)
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. slivered almonds and 2 tbsp. sugar for garnish if desired

In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, powder, salt and nutmeg.

In a small bowl, beat eggs, add milk and butter. Add to flour mixture, stir just until blended.

Fill muffin cups 2/3 full, sprinkle tops with almonds and sugar if desired. Bake in a 400 degree oven 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
