1 1/2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk

Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together and add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
