I REMEMBER BAKED BEANS | |
1 (1 lb.) pkg. beans (pea, marrow or navy) 1 med. onion 1/2 lb. salt pork 4 tbsp. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt Dash pepper 1 tsp. dry mustard 1/2 c. molasses Boiling water Soak beans overnight in cold water. In morning drain off water. In bean pot or crock pot, place chopped onion and salt pork, cut up. Put beans into pot; sprinkle on sugar, salt, pepper and mustard. Add molasses, then enough boiling water to just cover beans. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cover and bake 5-6 hours until tender. Remove cover the last half hour and let some liquid cook away. Before that, keep covered with water. Crock pot - cover and cook on high until beans are tender (5-6 hours) |
