2 1/4 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
Favorite icing

Sift flour and baking powder. Set aside.

Cream sugar and shortening until creamy. Gradually add eggs one at a time until creamy again. Add flour and baking powder alternating with milk. Add vanilla and mix well.

Pour into 2 floured 9 inch cake pans. Cook 350 degrees until cake comes away from the sides. Ice cake with favorite icing after it cools.
