SPLIT PEA SOUP 
2 c. split peas
8 c. cold water
Ham bone or ends of hams
3 tbsp. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Cook peas overnight. Wash and drain. Add water with ham bone and onion. Cook until thick, season well. You may serve with croutons or whatever you want. If soup is too thick. Add a little water. Serves about 6.
