1 lb. lg. beans (not pea beans)
1 c. brown sugar
1 onion (not cut) put into center of pot
Salt pork to please
1 tsp. salt, optional

Boil beans, salt pork (and salt) until tender. Pour water and beans into crock, add onion and sugar. Bake at 325 degrees. Keep water on them while baking.
