SCONES
1 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. graham flour
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
Water

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Stir together first five ingredients. With pastry blender, cut in shortening until crumbly. Break egg into measuring cup and beat with fork. Pour 1 teaspoon of the egg into a saucer and reserve. Fill the measuring cup up with water to the 2/3 mark. With fork, stir the liquid into the flour mixture to make a soft, slightly sticky dough.

Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead gently 8 to 10 times. Roll out or pat into a 1/2 inch thick circle. Cut into wedges. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Brush tops with reserved egg.

Bake at 425°F for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
