SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN | |
4 chicken breasts, halves 3 tbsp. oil 1 med. onion 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. salt Dash pepper 1/3 c. vinegar 1/2 c. brown sugar 2/3 c. water or chicken broth 1 tbsp. gravy master 3 tbsp. corn starch Skin and bone chicken breasts. Slice into bite size pieces. Brown chicken pieces and onion lightly in oil. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper. Stir together water (or chicken broth), vinegar, brown sugar and gravy master. Place chicken and onion in casserole dish and pour vinegar water mixture over top. Cover. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Remove chicken and thicken gravy with cornstarch mixture and replace chicken in gravy. Serve over rice. This can also be cooked on top of the stove. Simply put all ingredients into pan used to brown chicken and onion. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for about an hour. Thicken gravy. |
