HOMER PARK CAKE 
3 c. cake flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 egg whites
1 c. milk
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
3 tbsp. cocoa dissolved in boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. boiling water

Add cream of tartar to flour. Cream sugar and butter. Dissolve soda in milk. Add alternately the flour and milk to creamed butter and sugar. Add vanilla and cocoa. Fold in beaten egg whites. Add nuts. Bake as loaf cake in moderate oven. Cover with chocolate frosting using cocoa so it will be light like cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. I also use a long size box cake dish.
