PEGGY'S LAYERED CREAM CHEESE
BROWNIES
 
8 oz. cream cheese
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and set aside. 1/2 c. butter 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 3/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. chocolate chips

Melt chocolate and butter; let cool slightly. Beat in sugar and eggs until blended. Combine dry ingredients and stir into chocolate mixture. Pour 1/2 the batter into greased 8 inch square pan. Spoon cream cheese filling over batter and top with remaining batter. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Test with toothpick. Cut when cool.
