BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gal. plus 1 c. sliced cucumbers
4 or 5 onions
1/2 c. salt
Ice cubes

Slice cucumbers and onions. Sprinkle salt through them. Cover with ice cubes and let stand 3 hours. Drain off water and dry cucumbers and onions on paper towels to remove most of the water.

Bring to a boil a mixture of the following: 3 c. vinegar 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed 1 1/2 tsp. Turmeric 2 tbsp. mustard seed

After this is boiling add cucumbers and onions. Don't cook. Seal in hot jars.
