FEATHER SPONGE CAKE 
6 egg yolks
1/2 c. cold water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon or orange extract
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 egg whites
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar

Beat egg yolks until thick. Add water. Beat until very thick, about 5 minutes. Gradually beat in sugar and flavorings. Sift flour with salt. Fold in egg mixture. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form. Fold into first mixture. Bake in an ungreased 10 inch tube pan for about 1 hour at 325 F. Invert pan to cool.
