CORN PONE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. chopped onion
1 tbsp. shortening
2 tsp. chili powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 c. canned tomatoes
1 c. drained canned kidney beans
1 c. corn bread batter

Brown meat and chopped onion in melted shortening. Add seasonings and tomatoes. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1 minute, then add kidney beans. Pour meat mixture into greased 1 1/2 quart casserole, top with corn bread batter, spreading carefully with a knife. Bake in 425 degree oven for 20 minutes.

SHORT CUT METHOD:

1 lb. ground beef
1 can tomatoes
1 pkg. corn bread mix
1 pkg. chili mix
1 can kidney beans

Brown meat, add chili mix, tomatoes and simmer. Then add kidney beans and simmer. Pour into baking dish and top with corn bread batter. Bake 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
