CUSTARD BREAD PUDDING 
1 qt. milk, scalded
1/4 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2-3 c. bread cubes
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. butter, melted
Raisins, optional

Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Pour milk over bread cubes. Add sugar and salt. Beat eggs. Add to bread mixture. Add melted butter and vanilla. Mix well. Add raisins. Pour into 1 quart casserole. Set casserole in pan with hot water. Fill so that water is 1 inch from the top. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake 50 minutes to 60 minutes or until knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
