"APPLE" BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt

Mix as pie crust. Add 1 egg yolk and milk to make 2/3 cup. Roll out 1/2 of the dough as for pie crust. Put on a jelly roll pan. Crush 2 handfuls of corn flakes and put over crust.

Slice 8 apples for thick layer. Sprinkle 1 cup sugar and cinnamon to taste over the apples. Roll out the other 1/2 of crust and put over the apples. Beat egg white and brush over the crust before baking. Bake 1 hour 375 degrees.

When warm frost with 1 cup powdered sugar mixed with hot water and vanilla. Drizzle over the crust.
