BANANA CAKE 
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 eggs
1 c. mashed ripe banana (2 to 3 med.)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Cream cheese frosting

Cream together sugar, butter and nutmeg until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in bananas and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Beat into creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in nuts.

Spread batter in greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on rack. Frost with cream cheese frosting.

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

4 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. milk
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter

Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth. Makes 12 servings.
