APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 c. butter
3 c. sugar
2 c. apples, canned or dried
1 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs
5 c. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. raisins
1 c. figs
1 c. pear preserves
1 box dates
Nuts, any amount

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, and baking soda. Add to butter, sugar and eggs, beating well. Add apples, raisins, figs, dates, pear preserves, dates and nuts.

Be sure to dredge all fruit in 1 to 1 1/2 cups flour before adding to batter. Grease sides of pan and put wax paper in bottom of pan. Bake in 275 degree oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
