1/2 c. butter
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg yolk
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Maraschino cherries, pecans, or walnut halves

In a mixing bowl, thoroughly cream together butter and cream cheese. Add sugar, vanilla, and unbeaten egg yolk. Beat until light. Add flour and salt; mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with a cherry or nut. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 or 12 minutes or until very light brown.
