SNOWBALL COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. finely ground pecans or walnuts
1 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
confectioners' sugar

Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating until light. Add nuts, flour, salt and vanilla, mix until dough holds together (If necessary add 1 or 2 teaspoons cold water). For each cookie, form dough in ball about the size of a walnut, then flatten slightly. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in preheated 300 degree oven 20 to 25 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned and done inside (break one open to check). While still warm, dust heavily with confectioners' sugar and allow to cool to room temperature. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
