FLUFFY BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. self rising flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
Melted butter

Combine flour, baking powder, and sugar; mix well. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

Add buttermilk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 3 or 4 times.

Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on greased baking sheet. Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter, and bake at 375 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with additional melted butter. Yield: 10 biscuits.
