LEMON SAUCE 
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
a little nutmeg

Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add water gradually, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add butter, lemon juice and nutmeg.

Vanilla Sauce: Make as Lemon Sauce, using 1 teaspoon vanilla instead of lemon juice and nutmeg.
