SWEET CRISP PICKLES 
10 whole med. cucumbers
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed pickling spices
5 tbsp. coarse salt
4 c. vinegar

Cover whole cucumbers with boiling water. Let stand overnight. Repeat 4 times. On the 5th day drain and cut cucumbers into chunks.

Combine other ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour over chunks of cucumbers and let stand 2 days. Drain and bring syrup to a boil. Let stand for 5 days. Put pickles in jars and pour boiling syrup over and seal.
