1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. butter
2/3 c. sweet milk
2 eggs
1 c. chopped raisins
1 c. chopped currants
2 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda

FROSTING:

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. cream
Butter, size of walnut

Mix cake in order given, brown sugar through soda. Bake in cake pan at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until done. Boil frosting ingredients until soft ball forms in cold water. Beat until of spreading stiffness. Spread on cake.

This was the cake we took in our school lunches.
