6 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together 5 cup of flour (use last cup of flour for rolling out dough), soda, and salt. In large bowl, mix sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Roll dough 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick.

Cut with cookie cutters. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly golden brown. Frost with cream cheese frosting if desired.
