SOFT SUGAR COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 c. sour cream
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice or peel
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4-6 c. flour, add enough to make stiff dough

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and vanilla. Alternate sour cream and flour. Chill dough in refrigerator for about 1 hour. Before baking preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out on floured board, about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Place on greased cookie sheets and bake. Frost with glaze and sprinkles or decorate with frosting.

GLAZE: Heat on stove on low heat 2 tablespoons of butter. Add 2 cups confectioners sugar, 3 tablespoons water or milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Brush on cookie with pastry brush.
