CRUST:

1 box Pillsbury yellow cake mix (reserve 2/3 c. dry cake mix)
1/2 c. melted butter
1 egg

Mix cake mix, butter, and egg until crumbly. Press into a 9x13 inch greased baking pan. Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown in 350 degree oven.

FILLING:

2/3 c. cake mix that has been saved
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 c. chopped pecans

Beat first 5 ingredients at medium speed for 1-2 minutes. Pour filling over partially baked crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Return to 350 degree oven. Bake 30-35 minutes until filling is set. (Insert bread knife just in filling to check if set.) Cool. Cut into bars.
