SAVORY COTTAGE CHEESE BREAD 
2 tsp. instant minced onion
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 tbsp. plus butter, softened
1 tsp. salt
1 c. cottage cheese (sm. curd)
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. oregano leaves
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
2 to 2 1/2 c. flour

Add small amount of cold water to onion and let stand until rehydrated; drain if necessary. Soften yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. In medium bowl, mix well onion, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon salt, and remaining ingredients (except flour). Add yeast mixture and mix well. Gradually add enough flour to make a firm dough. Mix well; cover with plastic wrap and let stand in warm place 1 hour or until doubled. Punch down and put in well buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole. Let rise 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degree oven for 40 minutes. turn out and brush with butter and sprinkle with salt.
